CPVC-300™ – FM 4910

Static Dissipative Plastic

CPVC-300™ FM 4910 is a plastic sheet product that controls static electricity in clean room applications requiring flame retardant clear plastic. These applications include: clean room glazing; machine windows, doors, covers and enclosures; and fabricated desiccators and cabinets. The product is a Factory Mutual 4910* compliant chlorinated polyvinyl chloride sheet coated with SciCron Technologies clear, C-300™ static dissipative coating to prevent charge generation on the sheet surfaces. This controls particulate attraction and prevents electrostatic discharge (ESD) events completely independent of humidity. CPVC-300 – FM 4910 has excellent flammability and smoke generation properties, plus superior chemical resistance, surface hardness, and abrasion resistance.

*The CPVC substrate used to make this product has been tested according to procedures outlined in the Factory Mutual Clean Room Materials Flammability Test Protocol (Class 4910) and is listed as an approved material in the Factory Mutual Research Approval Guide. It has been formulated to resist fire and to emit low levels of smoke when tested according to this protocol. The C-300 coated product, CPVC-300 – FM-4910, has not been similarly tested by Factory Mutual Research, however, it is very unlikely that the presence of the C-300 coating on the sheet surfaces has any influence on the flammability characteristics of the sheet when tested according to the 4910 protocol. The C-300 coating, which is only one micron thick, is formulated with an incombustible conductive metal oxide which makes up 66% of the coating weight. The remainder of the coating adds less than 0.3 gram of combustible binder per square foot of coated sheet surface. The addition of such a small fractional percentage of combustible material is extremely difficult to detect. Trim Fluid™

Static Dissipative Coating Liquid

Trim Fluid™ is a general purpose, solvent based, static dissipative coating liquid which can be used on a variety of plastic substrate materials to make the surface of the plastic electro-conductive in the static dissipative range of surface resistivities. It is normally used as a touch-up coating on cut edges and machined surfaces of SciCron Technologies static dissipative sheet products. This touch-up coating prevents static charge build-up on these edges and surfaces and it provides electrical continuity across the cut or machined area. It can also provide continuity from front to back surfaces of a SciCron Technologies sheet product by forming an electro-conductive bridge across the edge of the sheet. Trim Fluid is also used on glue lines in items fabricated from SciCron Technologies sheets to provide electrical continuity across the glued joints.
