ASTM D-3363 Pencil Hardness Scale
Coated Sheet Products



Product information pages for SciCron Technologies coated sheet products reference ASTM D-3363 pencil hardness values for all products. These values provide a relative measure of the surface hardness for each respective product. Ratings are determined by systematically marking a sheet surface with a calibrated set of "lead" (graphite) pencils in a manner prescribed by the ASTM method. The reported pencil hardness rating is the hardness of the lead that just fails to scratch the surface.
