Cleaning and Handling Instructions: all C-300™ and C-350™ Surfaced Sheet Products
SciCron Technologies supplies a variety of plastic sheet products with factory applied static dissipative surfaces. Although these surfaces, which are cured onto the plastic substrates, are usually more wear resistant than the original substrate surfaces, care should be exercised in handling and using the sheet products to prevent unnecessary damage.
When required, the static dissipative surfaces can be readily cleaned with a mild soap and lukewarm water solution, using a clean sponge or soft cloth. Rinse well with clean water and dry with a chamois or moist cellulose sponge. If post-cleaning residues are a contamination concern, use filtered, deionized water for cleaning and lint-free wipes for drying. If deionized water by itself is ineffective, then a 30 -50% solution of isopropyl alcohol (IPA) in deionized water can be used.
Note:
- Never use any cleaning product which contains an abrasive. Use of such products can remove the static dissipative surfaces completely.
- Although the static dissipative surfaces are resistant to a broad range of chemicals, extensive use of solvents resulting in prolonged contact, e.g., immersion in the solvents, is not advisable and may cause permanent damage to the surfaces and/or substrate. Aggressive solvents like acetone and methyl ethyl ketone (MEK), which can completely remove the C-350 bending grade surface, should never be used for cleaning.
- Aggressive rubbing of the static dissipative surfaces, particularly the softer bending grade C-350 surfaces, should always be avoided during cleaning to prevent surface damage.
- Wiping the surfaces with coarse or soiled fabrics during drying can cause scratching of the surfaces.
